How to play Nova Blackjack
- Choose how many Play Points to use for the hand, then press Deal.
- You and the dealer each receive two cards. One dealer card stays face down.
- Hit to take another card, Stand to keep your total, or Double on your first two cards to double your Play Points, take exactly one more card and stand.
- The dealer then reveals the hidden card and draws until reaching 17 or more.
- The closer hand to 21 without going over takes the round. Press Deal again for a new hand.
- Keyboard shortcuts during your turn: H to hit, S to stand, D to double.
Rules and Play Points
Card values
- Cards 2 to 10 count as their number. Jack, Queen and King count as 10.
- An Ace counts as 11, or as 1 if 11 would take the hand over 21. A hand using an Ace as 11 is called “soft”.
- A “blackjack” is an Ace plus a 10-value card as your first two cards.
Table rules
- One standard 52-card deck, freshly shuffled before every hand.
- The dealer checks for blackjack straight away. If both have blackjack, it is a push.
- The dealer must draw on 16 or less and stand on all 17s, including soft 17.
- You may double on your first two cards only. Splitting and insurance are not offered.
- Reaching 21 automatically stands your hand.
Play Points returns
| Result | Play Points returned |
|---|---|
| Blackjack | Stake plus 1.5× stake (3:2, rounded down) |
| Higher hand or dealer busts | Stake plus 1× stake (1:1) |
| Push (equal totals) | Stake returned |
| Lower hand or bust | Nothing returned |
Pressing New round during your turn stands your hand and settles it normally, so nothing is lost without a result.
